About Us

Our mission
To publish articles on performance improvement: defining the methodology used to develop performance measures, outlining the evidence base, and describing the tools that can enable improvement.
Bernard M. Rosof, MD, MACP
Editor-in-chief

Medicine is moving to newer models of care to meet the demands of chronic illness, an aging population, ever-changing technology, caring for the uninsured, and the current reimbursement structure.  Physicians must put systems in place to achieve the patient outcomes and satisfaction they value so dearly. Current Clinical Practice is designed to assist you in meeting these challenges.

Quality of care has been defined as how one performs on 6 health care measures
specified by the Institute of Medicine-safety, timeliness, effectiveness, equity, efficiency, and patient centeredness.  It is to that definition we dedicate the content of this new peer-reviewed journal. The emphasis will be on practical, immediately useful information that will assist you in striving for best outcomes, optimizing patient care, and considering new primary-care practice models. Our editorial board consists of some of the most prominent thought leaders working with the National Quality Forum and Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement to help identify needs and establish guidelines that are necessary to move medicine toward these goals.

Following through on the spirit of performance improvement, Current Clinical Practice will also provide industry-sponsored, peer-reviewed articles that offer broad coverage of the clinical challenges you face each day. All of the articles will be of interest to you in your daily clinical practice; many will offer the added value of free CME credit.
The editorial board and staff want to hear your concerns and ideas on these topics and on how we can best serve your needs. With your help, we believe this endeavor will  enable each of us to say, "I have done my best for my patients."
