Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • describe the epidemiology and natural history of herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)

  • Assess the efficacy of current treatment options for both herpes zoster and PHN

  • evaluate the benefits of using the zoster vaccine as a preventative strategy to reduce the public health burden of herpes zoster and PHN
